The Trident 800: A Rain-soaked Proving Ground

Engine Type 798cc
Horsepower 113 hp
Wet Weight 436.5 lbs
Testing the new 2026 Triumph Trident 800 at the global introduction in Cyprus last month was a true baptism by fire—or rather, by water. While the Mediterranean weather turned treacherous, it provided the perfect environment to see if this bike is more than just a fair-weather friend.
Equipped with a highly competent Rain Mode and maximum traction control, the 800 made navigating the slick Cypriot roads a breeze. I was especially grateful for the heated grips and the sophisticated electronic suite, which includes lean-sensitive TC and wheelie control. Between those rider aids and the Michelin Road 6 tires, the ride remained composed and genuinely enjoyable despite the 'slippery' moments.
Triumph has hit the mark here: the bike is comfortable, easy to configure, and the vibration from that larger triple is minimal. Plus, the throaty roar of the new exhaust is incredibly satisfying. Even the more straightforward mechanical features held up under the heavy wind and rain, proving that the Trident 800 is a rugged, sophisticated evolution for the 2026 lineup.
